Assistant Architect - Indiana University

Works with the Associate University Architect on the design of new construction, additions and remodeling projects. Works with IU design professionals and the users to define the space needs, prepare budgets for state appropriations and direct the work of outside architectural firms hired for each project. Monitors projects to ensure compliance with contractual plans, specifications and budget parameters. Reviews detailed contract documents for conformance to building codes, best building and detailing practices, and to cost estimates; and prepares design and contract documents for remodeling and/or infrastructure projects.

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in architecture and five years of experience in the profession with demonstrated experience and advanced skill in project management/project communication, architectural design, architectural contract document preparation, and detailing and cost estimating.

Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.

Must be a Registered Architect in the State of Indiana or possess the ability to obtain state registration within one year of employment.

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including ability to interact and communicate with a wide variety of individuals. Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills; and working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT.
